First time out success with 1903A3

I bought this gun a good while ago but it had just not made it to the range until Saturday.

The Load is RCBS 180gr SP with GC and Hitek coated. 10gr unique

It was like the cast boolit gods were pleased with me.

After sighiting the gun in I shot 4 shots@ 100 yes offhand in a 2.25" group. I was excited by this and put up a paper plate and fired 5 shot for 2.6"

I put up a new paper plate and fir d 5 shots from the bench. The rest was not steady and the trigger pull is long. I got a horizontal string.

I fired the rest of my 60 rds at the steel plates offhand. I hit a high precentage of the shots. I could not be happier with this outing. It may have been my best day at the range .....

My favorite load for my Remington 1993A3 was 20.0 grains of SR4759 Behring a 150 grain FP from a Lee mold.
Can our government survive the next 4 years?

Glad you had a good range day....we all deserve one once in awhile! Nice shooting, 100 yds. off hand! 1903s and 03-A3s make some of the very best cast boolit shooters. Your rifle looks like new -- very nice.

The gun came from an auction site. It is a Arsenal rebuild in unissued condition when I got it. Has the FJA cartouche.

Good shooting, they are fine old guns

Gave my FIL's 1907 Remington 03A3 to my youngest son for his B-Day this year

Shot my first deer with my father’s when I was twelve. Now my son has it. There is still the receipt for it, when my father bought it surplus from the Frankford Arsenal in the late 1940’s. I always liked the .30-06 round. For me the 180gn worked best for hunting, but that was before I started casting.

For both my M1941 MC Sniper Rifle AND my Rem 03A3,
my "sweet spot" load in TW54 cases(M1941) or R-P (03A3)has been:
    WLRprimer/22 gr IMR 4759/ 311299Lino/.311/MTL or 311334Lino/.311/MTL.

This gun has been a breath of fresh air. Everything seems to shoot good. I have had several dud rifles latley...

So far I have only shot Hitek coated bullets. I'm going to try some Powder coat. The lead is just range scrap with about 2% tin added.

First load was RCBS 180 SP GC 10gr Unique. It is light but very accurrate.

I loaded some NOE 311299 copy bullets with 11gr Unique. The shot very good with a little more recoil. I did not shoot much paper. There were several AK and AR shooters. I hate going down range with theses guys.

I had 10 rds loaded 311299 22gr of 5744. They smeed to shoot very good. I would like to get this load on paper at 200 yds.

    I love this gun
