40+yrs ago I used a Ben Pearson Colt or Bear Kodiak with the new aluminum arrows. Would clip the small end from casting dummies and hollow them out to fit over a blunt screw in point. Made for more shocking power. Bright orange plastic vanes made recovery easy.
Not that I ever hit that many. I ate a lot more cans of Dinty Moore beef stew then I did Fried Rabbit.

Never had a Long Bow, always wanted one.
Thought Compound bows were an obscenity. Still think so.

Anyone you can hit a bunny on the run with a Bow. I'll gladly give a tip of my hat to.

    That is a Great Bowman.

I’ve drilled a few ducks, woodchucks, and dozens of carp with my dad’s recurve back in the early 80’s. I still have the bow. I might have to string it up and goto town again. It’s missing a stick on arrow rest.

I was load testing the day that rabbit walked onto the range. I believe my alloy was accoww with 2%pewter loaded around 22.5 grains of h110. It didn’t group the best but connected with that rabbit at 136 yards. If I remember right it was shooting 3 to 4 inch groups with that load so just aimed center mass and hoped to connect. Guess it hit where I aimed.

    I don’t think it expanded.

Fun, brewer12345....I have some super quiet .22 rounds that I like using....

Walks, it has an appeal even when you don't get stuff...kind of makes you feel primal or more in touch with our ancestors. They practiced a heck of a lot more and depended on it, so no doubt were more successful than us. We're here today, right? With you on compounds....Can't get into them...

Tripple, we used ours without arrow rests....but no doubt you could get one easy and cheap....if those feathers are sharp at the front, they tear up hands pretty good....

I have a stick on rest put up for it. I just will have to dig for arrows in my old totes. I still have my old bear carp reels I bought in the 70’s that I use to tape on the bow as well. You guys remember those? I can remember when the strong got caught behind it and the arrows would bounce back, it’s amazing I never took out an eye.

I never worried about fletch burn, it was the string burn across my arm that stung when I straight armed it. No one taught me to roll and bend my wrist at the time. I stuck a few turtles to logs with it as well. They looked like Shiska Bob’s that kept spinning around around in circles pinned to their sunning spots.

Be interesting to see if you still "got it." Sometimes those skills stick with us surprisingly well...Yeah, that arrow on a string sounds deadly....String burn on the inside wrist was a problem for me too...Dang, growing up we ate turtles and their eggs....Never used an arrow for one though.

What a novel idea, shooting rabbits with old guns and cast bullets. I really like it...

You can miss fast & you can miss a lot, but only hits count.

Shrapnel, do you spot them before they run, or let them run and hit them when the pause?
When you care enough to send the very best, send an ounce of lead.

I’ve heard of small groups guys going “subsistence camping” , where you only eat what you can shoot. I think I could go for a few days of that, especially if the only weapon allowed was a 22 pistol. Of course, there would have to be plenty of rabbits and squirrels around.

Ok, I guess it is my time to brag just a little bit. Some of these pictures go back to 1976. Hunted cottontails with a bow back to 1965 and lost count at 258 or so. Killed more after that. Still like to hunt them, although there are not as much small game here as there was in other places I have hunted. It seems to me that there are more critters (small game) in Wichita and surrounding Counties than elsewhere I have lived.
To the op, that was a nice shot on that bunnie.
