There are few things in the field more satisfying than edible small game with a handgun! One of my absolutely favorite sports, back in the day!
Good show! Your particular handgun and load is one of the most effective for that wondrous sport! Enjoy your meal!

Nicely done, congratulations. One of my favorite meals...………….robin
Good going.
Don't forget to make a keychain out of it's foot.
Maybe it'll bring you better luck than it did for the rabbit.

OK People. Enough of this idle chit-chat.
This ain't your Grandma's sewing circle.
EVERYONE!
Back to your oars. The Captain wants to waterski.
Thanks, Dale53, Robinsroost, and Winger Ed....humble but tasty....and you can hunt em all year long...
Me and my ex father in law used to hunt multiple times a week with 22 pistols and beagles. It should be against the law to have this much fun. From 50 to 100 shots apiece on a good day. We would kill from 2 to 5 rabbits. Plenty to eat for supper. My exmother in law could fry them up just right.
Good times
Some people live and learn but I mostly just live
That sounds like real "blast" Wolfer....I've never fried them (always crock pot or stew)....Wonder if she had any tricks to it....
Way I learned to shoot running targets. Jacks for practice and dog food.
Cottontails for Us to eat. I loved My Dad's Colt OP 6", #358429 over 3.0grs of Bullseye. Still do.

I like to hunt them still sitting and squirrels with my single six and 5" stainless MK2 heavy barrel, .22's. Loads of fun. Good shooting and thanks for sharing.
Looks like you blew the carrot right out of its mouth.
Many years ago I had moved to Bakersfield and a co-worker talked about hunting jack rabbits with 38 shells, sorta. They would put a spent 38 case over the end of an arrow shaft so it would just 'thump' the rabbit. I'll be damned if those guys didn't do quite well on deer come archery season!
Common sense Gun Safety . . .
Is taught at the Range!
Funny how somethings will trigger memories in a persons brain, but, when I opened this thread and saw the picture of the rabbit, for a second, I could smell the scent of the rabbit.

Ah, a self bow man, too. The alure of traditional and primative bows are as captivating as a fine rifle or revolver. I used to be a rabbit hunting fool. Good memories.
Looks like a blast with the longbow! I drilled one years ago with my bow and caught it far back. It jumped at the shot and tore its intestines out trying to run. I’ll never forget the shrill squeal it made. You could have heard it for miles. Here’s my first kill with cast. A 136 yard shot with my Ruger 77/44 and a 265 grain Lyman devastator.
Hickory....you mentioning it brought the smell right to mind....smells are big memory triggers...
ChristopherO....yeah, that was in my younger days too....Miss shooting the bow....
Dang, Tripplebeards....guess that guy didn't run far....
Tripple,
From what I've seen you should probably hold about a half a rabbit toward the head from now on.
Take care,
Rick
I have not been in a couple years but there used to be an epic slash pile on public land that was crawling with rabbits. My favorite tactic was to set up in cover with the 39A and just wait. The best days were cold, sunny and no wind. The rabbits could not resist coming out to sun in the morning. If I shot subsonics and left the dead ones where they lay until I was done with that spot, it was not uncommon to get multiple rabbits in a morning without moving. I think the best day was 4 in an hour. They just kept coming out to get shot and the combination of me being in cover and the lack of loud report from the subsonics out of the long barrel meant that they did not get spooked to easily.
