    Question Ideal mould

I picked up a ideal 358311 bullet mould today that is missing the handle screws. Does anyone know the tread and length of the screws. Thanks

You can order a rebuild kit from Lyman or maybe Midway.

I seen that but I tried the screws out of one of my Lyman mounds and they didn’t work. I figured ideal mould might be different

There is no difference. Unless new Lyman screws are different.

The threads in the mould might be damaged.

I’ve never found any differences between the threads in my oldest interchangeable Ideal mounds to my newest ones marked Lyman... but I haven’t bought a new manufactured Lyman for several years so they could have changed recently. I would call Customer Service and ask... a fresh set of screws with sharp new threads should clean up any minor little burrs if you work them in carefully.

My guess is the threads are damaged or "bubba" modified them. I have multiple Lyman and Ideal molds and all of the threads are the same.

I go to Ace Hardware and buy 8-32 Cap socket head screw of the appropriate length. On these, the head may be a little large to fit in the countersink in the bottom of the mould. Chuck in a electric drill and use a flat file to turn off the excess until they fit. I've done maybe 20 over the years. Use a tap to clean and refresh threads if necessary. If the threads in the mould are gone, you can always retap to 10-32 and make new screws./beagle
