Congratulations to the both of you! As her father you must be so proud, as you both should be.

I also thought she was in high school or at most college but read Jeff's reply that she was 31 so went back to take a second look. Either she looks young or I'm getting old. I prefer the first one.

She is a pretty young lady and it's nice to hear of her work ethic. We need more of her age like her. I'd be bursting with pride myself.

Her smile says it ALL!! Congrats to both! Not too big a deer, very tender eating! I'd rather have a yearling this size than any other.
    Got a .22 .30 .32 .357 .38 .40 .41 .44 .45 .480 or .500 S&W cylinder that needs throats honed? 9mm, 10mm/40S&W, 45 ACP pistol barrel that won't "plunk" your handloads? 480 Ruger or 475 Linebaugh cylinder that needs the "step" reamed to 6° 30min chamfer? Very Nice.. Congratulations.
Great rifle choice for 1st deer. Excellent short action bolt rifle and in a formidable caliber.
My other half got her first a couple of years ago with my M77/44 and a 240 hard cast.

I must say I’m impressed with the distance. Over 100 yards! Any doubts I may have had about the 357 are gone.

I would say it was very close to the limit, another 10 to 15 yards and I would have told her to pass. I took a big doe a couple years ago at probably 40 yards with the same rifle and load. The wound was quite impressive entrance and exit. Exit hole was close to golf ball size. This deer, there was expansion and a quick kill. Though not as impressive as the 40 yard shot.

I can't wait to take my granddaughter out shooting. Might be a while yet - she's just turned three weeks old!
