Shot a nice cougar with my 35 Whelen cast

But you'll have to take my word for it. Can't get any pics (have lots) to load. Crossed the road in front of the truck and stopped in a brushy opening, looked back at me (75 yds). Beaned him! Never had a deer or elk taste this good! 7 foot cat, going on the wall full body mount. Two whitetails also fell to cast this season.

Suppose to taste alot like pork. I'm jealous I'd like to get a couple pounds of it to try.

Congrats sounds like a big cat, I have never laid eyes on one.

Cougar or mountain lion was one of the favorite meats of the mountain men of the 1700-early 1800 period.

Cat.....the other white meat. Pretty good barbque pcs (pulled cat sandwich). Ever wonder why you don't see many stray cats in predominantly Asian neighborhoods?
An old Cherokee was teaching his grandson about life. "Inside me two wolves fight," he told the boy.
"One is evil - he is anger, envy, greed, arrogance, self-pity, resentment, lies, false pride, and ego. The other is good - he is joy, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, generosity, truth and faith. The same fight is inside you - and every other person, too."
The grandson thought for a minute and asked,"Which wolf will win?"
The old Cherokee replied, "The one you feed."

Awesome, Les! I'm not sure about Tacos Gato Grande, though. Nice rifle too.

Cut everything into little chops about 3/8" thick. Mostly silver dollar sized medalians. Took three packages to a Cola Warrior shoot last week and fried up some for appetizers for the guys and gals. They loved it! Simply salt, pepper to taste, fry for a minute or two each side till brown, serve. Threw in three eggs with the last batch for my dinner. Hard to beat!

Biggest thing I ever shot was a rabbit, and I was still a teen.

Was cutting up 3/4 squares of East Texas Bobcat meat to use for trap bait and treating it with Sodium Benzoate and noticed the meat to be white and had no off smell. Put a square of it without the SB in a skillet and browned it good. Bit off a bit and the taste was very good, but, my preconceived notion of eating cat came to mind and didn't swallow it. Not that hungry yet, but should the time come that I get that hungry, I will be setting traps again for Bobcat. I think the Bobcat to be smaller cousin to the Mountain lion. By the way, that bait treatment I mentioned will keep the bait well over a year in a mason jar sitting around on the shelf. Or , maybe longer.

The Kansas Department of Wild Life and Parks denied their existence in Kansas for a long time, but a few have been killed around here now. They aren't common. Someone killed one with bird shot less than 100 miles from me to the northwest. I'd just like to see one.

Tell us more about the rifle and cast load. Looks like a cool hunting rifle.

Awesome! I’ve only shot one so far...and it was a small one. I definitely need a big one for my bucket list. I called one in a few years ago out in Arizona. I took my buddy with who sat 30 yards from me on a game trail while I was calling. If I would’ve left him at home I would’ve ended up with one nice cougar... So he says...it walked up within 10 feet of him and he got up and ran.lol

I’m on the southern tip to. My buddy took a couple pictures of a bobcat walking on his land from his truck with a cell phone and the neighbors next to my property have two bobcats on their trail camera. I’ve seen bobcat tracks for the last 20 years in different places I’ve hunted around my area but never seen one yet. I’ve shot many bobs I’ve called in Arizona and one ran with “a” dog up in Park falls.

"I'd just like to see one."

Rich, no, no you wouldn't. When they show up/get stocked, everything dies. Birds, rabbits, songbirds, deer, everything. They kill for sport, just like house cats.
