My hope tends to be earthly things, ( the car will start this morning, I'll find the carrots under all this snow, things like that ) I have confidence in God to follow through with his plans for me and our country ! He hasn't done all this for nothing.

Saw this and thought of this thread

If only there were someone to mediate between us, someone to bring us together, someone to remove God’s rod from me, so that his terror would frighten me no more. Then I would speak up without fear of him, but as it now stands with me, I cannot.

I do not hope for things that I know will come to pass as God has promised. His promises are assured.

My hopes are both personal and less self centered.

On the personal side....I hope I can be a better person. I hope to die without pain and suffering. I hope that my children will accept Jesus.

More "globaly"...I hope not to see the destruction of our society and our country...something I believe is likely to happen. I hope that the world will be able to live in peace....but that is impossible until Jesus returns as evil can never be defeated by man. Yet one can hope....

Hebrews 6;1-20

A Better Estimate

God’s Infallible Purpose in Christ

19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, 20 where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

Our Lord and savior Jesus Christ is our only hope .

We live in a fallen world . We gain great insight by understanding that . If you don't have that understanding then you are tormented and lost trying to deal with it . But we have the comfort of our faith in GOD , we understand where we are .

Romans 15:13

Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

John 16:25-33

These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; but the time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but I will tell you plainly about the Father. 26 In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I shall pray the Father for you; 27 for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God. 28 I came forth from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father.”
29 His disciples said to Him, “See, now You are speaking plainly, and using no figure of speech! 30 Now we are sure that You know all things, and have no need that anyone should question You. By this we believe that You came forth from God.”
31 Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe? 32 Indeed the hour is coming, yes, has now come, that you will be scattered, each to his own, and will leave Me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. 33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Our Lord and savior Jesus Christ did overcome this world . He did not abandon us , he taught us to deal with it . Accepting him , given the Holy Spirit through the rebirth of baptism upon accepting him as our redeemer by admission of faith we are liberated from this world . He is ever with us , he offers renewal even when we stray through his boundless love and mercy . He offers forgiveness for repentance , He lives within us to give wisdom and discernment in our lives . He offers eternal salvation . He is our hope .
