I always have. It's a gas check design.

do you make your own checks or buy the hornady ones? I just started to cast this one and looking for pointers on gas checks. I have heard a little about pat marlin checks, but do not know anyone using them.

I went with the copper .30 cal Gator gas checks. I purchased them from Sages Outdoors. They are cheaper than the Hornady checks.

I install them with a .311 lee push through sizer. I’ve had no problems with this bullet / check combo.

The Sages Outdoors checks are as good as any and less expensive.

I went to his website and it's still active. His contact page says "Please! Make sure our emails are not going to your spam folder, or blocked folder if you do not get a response!" so maybe that's the problem?

Sages. I think you can still buy smaller quantities on eBay.

yes sages has 500count quantities on ebay they work great on my 311291, 311329, 311413, 311414, and 311-165/ranch dog. i've had a borrowed pat marlin check maker they work just fine, and i have a freechexIII that i use mostly. i also have a few different ways i size and install gas checks lyman 45, 4500, lee push through, and a ideal/lyman 310 tool push through.

also there was a thread not long ago that pat marlin was trying to turn key sell his buisness as he was tired of dealing with the california wildfires and the exhorbitant power fees and taxes and such.

I have used copper gas checks from Lyman, Hornady, and Sage. Found the Hornady and Sage's Gator checks to work best on a variety of 30 cal molds from various makers. All I use now are the Gator checks from Sage sized .310 in a Lyman 450.

If you want smaller quantities, Sage sells aluminum checks in 100 piece quantities.

I ended up buying a gas check maker from Dima Prok- works just fine with the aluminum flashing I have been using. Before that was buying the Hornady gas checks.
