    Cheap DYI small knife material

I am obsessed with these little Altoid survival kits, I am wanting to make a custom small knife to fit in the kit, what would be the best raw materials to use? Lawn mower blade, saw blade, small file? Keep in mind I don’t want it 1/4” thick or anything

    Thanks

Circular saw blades ment for cordless tools are pretty thin.

I dunno mayb just thow in an exacto blade, no handle. Make the handle when you need it.

All seriousness Show us or list off your kits.

New carbide tipped saw bases are no good! I would go with the file! Ya know it’s Hardenable!

Unless you just want to make one, i'd use what we include in our individual aviator survival kits.

Otherwise, yea, saw blades make decent knives.

    Hacksaw blade will do decent.

Gave it some more thought. You could cut a rat tail tang and add barbs to it with a cold chisel. Then it could be driven into a stick to use for a handle.

I just had another idea. You could make a small ulu with a top skeleton handle with a tang on both ends of the handle. Then if needed in a survival situation a stick for a handle could be lashed on.

If You have a Small Blacksmith forge You can work old Worn files into nice blades. For bigger knives Light leaf springs work very well

I think a warncliff shape on a hacksaw blade. Leave the teeth on the handle end and wrap with enough duct tape to get function feel, and store your duct tape. Make an edge guard from heat welded milk carton material, singl layer of duct tape too.
I like this design, had to go google due to spelling retardation!

Also google “2 brick forge” works fine for a few little knives.
