    7mm ribbed machine gun barrels

Does anybody remember what these barrels were made for, what country, model, etc.? I believe that they are 7mm Mauser. I have three coated in cosmoline and one cleaned up for pictures.

The Soviets had some barrels ribbed like that.

You'd think they would have some sort of markings on them.

I can't tell you what they fit but I had one and lathe turned it to fit a Russian 12 ga. single shot and made a 7 X 57 rifle for a friend. It's a great shooter and has taken a bunch of long range antelope.

Any Does it have a gas port on it at all? Any gas ports? Any proof marks? My advice is go to Weapons Guild and ask there. Someone will know.

No gas port. I know some guys used them on Mauser small rings and just left them full rib profile. A little garish for my tastes but it made them happy. I used one on a '93 Mauser but mine was a 4" @ 100 yards grouper so its no longer here.
