    savage 22 hornet problem

I have a savage model M-25 in 22 Hornet. From day one it has not functioned properly when feeding the standard 40gr RN hornet cartridge into the chamber. The round always hangs up on the lip of the chamber.
Has anyone else had a similar problem with this model / cartridge?
It will feed spitzer type cartridges.
I like the rifle, it is very accurate. My biggest dislike is the plastic magazine and the fact that the standard round nose cartridges will not feed.
    thanks

I learned something today about how that rifle chambers cartridges. If the the cartridge is shorter than the specified maximum length of the loaded cartridge then the cartridge does not want to cycle properly. When the finished length of the loaded cartridge is at maximum, then both spitzer and round nose will cycle through. THE FINISHED LENGTH OF CARTRIDGE IS CRITICAL: to short and the cartridge does not feed.

Interesting. Thanks for posting that information. I am looking at the M25.
