Rhineland 45 acp conversion what FPS

What type of FPS are you getting with standard loads from the Rhineland 45acp conversions?

I Have the Rhineland Enfield .45 ACP conversion wiht the 20 inch barrel. With factory 230 grain hardball that chronographs 850 fps in my 1911 with 5 inch barrel, I get about 1050 fps in the Enfield conversion. Cast bullet loads with 230 grain slugs that get 850 fps in the 1911 show a bit over 1100 fps in the Enfield. I also load .45 Super brass with hotter loads for the conversion using 250 grain cast bullets at 1200 fps.

Good info on what to expect.

Carbine Velocities .45 ACP+P+ - I experimented with case capacity charges of #2400 in .45 ACP loads fired in a converted Marlin 1894, .45 Colt which was set back and rechambered to .45 ACP by John Taylor, having a 20” barrel. DO NOT try these in an M1911 pistol, but only in the New Model Blackhawk convertible or a suitably strong rifle which supports the case well.

Test loads all assembled in Federal NT cases with Federal 200 small rifle primer.

Control: HM2-453-200FN Cowboy, 5.5 grains old Herc. Bullseye 1054 fps, 4 Sd, 15 ES
(For comparison 951 fps, 11 Sd, 33 ES fired in 4-5/8" Ruger NMBH)

    H&G68 200-gr. SWC, 16 grs. old Herc. #2400 1433 fps, 11Sd, 34 ES

    Accurate 45-240D, Auto Rim flatnose bullet, 16 grs. old Herc. #2400 1375 fps, 15 d, 40 ES.

Cases extracted and ejected easily with no pressure signs, no barrel leading.
Bullets cast of wheelweights lubed with Lee Liquid Alox.

The .45 ACP loads fired in the carbine all grouped about 6” for 10-shot groups fired at 100 yards, typical performance for this iron sighted, 5 lb. carbine.

All I can say is WOW!
Just finished my build, really looking forward to trying it out.
1200 fps with a 250gr would make a very nice whitetail load.

My Rhineland on a M98 action has the 16 1/4" barrel. With screens (Oehler M35P) set at 15' I get the following velocities:

WCC 73 Ball runs 837 out of 5.5" M1911 and 938 fps out of the Rhineland.

My standard 45 ACP practice load with a 195 - 205 gr SWC cast runs 850 - 880 fps out of the M1911 and 1030 - 1050 fps out of the Rhineland.

A 205 SWC over 7.5 gr Unique runs 1050 fps out of the M1911 and 1210 fps out of the Rhineland.

A Lee 230 TC over 5 gr Bullseye runs 922 fps out of the M1911 and 1060 fps out of the Rhineland.

A 245 gr 452490 GC'd over 7.3 gr Unique runs 981 fps out of my 6 1/2" M1917/25 and 1207 fps out of the Rhineland.

I also push the 245 GC'd SWC over Blue Dot to just at 1400 fps out of the Rhineland. Either it or the above 7.3 gr Unique load would do very nicely on deer/hogs. However, while safe in the M98 Rhineland and Ruger revolvers they should not be used in semi-autos or SAAs with conversion cylinders..

Thanks Larry, If I ever load any to those levels I will mark the brass in some way.
My old 255gr Lee bullet load was 5.0gr Unique.
