Yesterday two of our grandchildren were playing in the living room, whey they both decided to covet the same toy, causing noise and disarray. My stepson and his family, who live with us for a while, were getting ready to travel to New York to visit the in-laws, which occupied much of the household activity during the day. Last night my six year-old granddaughter woke up at 3 am with a stuffy nose which propelled her into a crying fit that lasted until about 3:30 am. And for all this, I am thankful.
I am thankful that we have family close by, and we are able to help them. I am grateful that my granddaughter still wants me to snuggle with her at bedtime. I am grateful that we have these moments to work things out as a family, and to grow together. Families that have never had a problem are poor indeed, and I am glad that we are not one of those families.
Oh, and our good friends did not defrost their turkey in time, so I put ours in the oven this morning, so that we can take it to them, and all have a true thanksgiving together. God is good.
