I have an old German trials rifle chambered for 6x58 Forster rimless, has anyone had success forming brass for it. Unlikely I know but I thought I would try. Thanks.

My conversion book says to use 25-06 brass. Anneal case neck, full length size in 6 x 58 die, trim to length, chamfer and full length size again.
Hope this helps.
BIG OR SMALL I LIKE THEM ALL, 577 TO 22 HORNET.
Do a chamber case first and find out what you actually have. I don't know how old yours is, I have a Cape gun that was made between 1885 and 1892 in Stetten, Germany. I did a chamber cast and it is a 10.5x47R chamber. I sent the cast to Dave Davidson (CH4D) and he told me that, yes, mine was a 10.5x47R as I had measured, and it is different than his other 23 10.5x47R chambers on record! In other words he now had 24 different 10.5x47R chamber casts. It seems back then every gunsmith made his own reamer.

Thanks, I'll have to look at that. Of course the next problem is finding dies. I have not found any yet and to have a custom set made they want a fired case, what came first the chicken or the egg.
I did a chamber cast and it looks like true 6x58.
I looked at using 6mm Remington, they actually chamber. The original round used a 105 gn very long nose bullet, I did not want to use anything shorter but I might be stuck with. I have been trying to get brass from rcc, have been talking to Jeff Robertson for 5 months, still nothing.
Load these in the 6mm Rem case and the case should fireform on first firing.

SURLY someone has some stockpiled away??
Then neck size using 243 Win dies not screwed all the way down
Mike
p.s. One mm is only 0.0393701 short and the case may stretch soon to make up
the difference.
6MM brass is ALOT cheaper than $6 a case correct brass

Thank you, if I can find some of the Hornady bullets I will do just that.
That must be a very rare rifle. I'm sure I'm not the only one that would love to see pictures of it. Is it the mythical 1897 Mauser?
