Cast 38/55 data for Uniique powder?

I have recently came into a lever action, and single shot rifle in 38/55. The single shot is in the mail, the lever is a 336, that JES has done his magic on. I got a few rounds loaded with the 255gr lee slug and the Lever gun shoots them great. Both it and the single shot is set up for the short brass, got lucky on that. Any load dat for Unique or any other smokeless powder that shoots great for you guys, the data would be most appreciated.

I'm shooting shortened 38-55 brass in a Husqvarna 33, and using RL-7, 15grs. with a GC bullet that weighs 268 grs.
This load is accurate and just fun to shoot, and I'm going to use it to kill Bambi with this year

Like above but with the Lee bullet. 9 grs of Unique for all day fun. I'm hunting for a buck this year with 22 grs of IMR 4198 with the Lee sized .377" and PC.

I've had better luck with 10.0 grs. of Unique and the 255 gr. cast lead. The 10 grin load has been a farorite of many shooters.

    What velocity are you getting?

That is interesting! You and Texas by god.
With two bullets I shoot most, the old NEI of long ago 275gr GC and the Old West 265 grn , both like the 9 grain load of Unique for best accuracy.

Yep I shoot the 249gr lee with the same charge also but forgot to mention it. Both are great for the .38-55

I just shot the lee 250 with 10 gr of unique. Velocity was 1233, 5 shot average. This load shot great at 100 and 200 yds. With a 100 yd zero it had 24" of drop at 200 yd.

Yes, 9-10 grains of Unique is a very popular 38 55 cast load.

Filler? Unique don’t need no stinking filler! Sorry, couldn’t help it

That's what they said about 5744, works better with a filler. As least it does in my hands.

Here's another advocate of the 10 grain Unique load over a Lyman 375248 (255 gr.) plain bast boolit. Very accurate in a JES rebored H&R Handi-Rifle that was born as a 30-30 caliber. This is my "finisher" load if Bambi doesn't stop firm from my first boolit over a different charge.

++ on the 10 gr. load 1200 to 1250 fps. Shot it for years.
