removing spent PVC from NOE casting mallet

I feel sort of pathetic asking this...just wondering if anyone has a good method for getting the broken PVC off Al's mallets to make room for the new piece. It looks like 1 1/4" ID pipe that he used. About ready to saw.

a heat gun aimed at the inside of the pipe will soften the pvc and allow you to fold it out

Thanks. Got it off (with a little saw)...leave it to Al, there's a groove in the PVC and an o-ring on the mallet . Thing was on there.
