    Hs-7

    Is HS-7 gone for good?

It was a pretty good powder.

It seems to be gone for good. Why they stopped making HS7, I don't know. But Blue Dot has the same burn rate, and the charges are about the same, too. Maybe that's why.

W571 and HS-7 are long gone. I have a few pounds left that I use for special loads.

I used it for 12 ga 1 1/4 oz loads and mostly in 357 mag with cast. Hs-7 is one of two powders that stuck a boolit in my 357, which I called/have called a squib load by mistake I guess* shrug* according to our experts a "dud". What happened is I did not have enough crimp to keep the powder burning after the boolit exited the case, flame out once base passed cylinder gap and stuck boolit, clump of scorched powder in the case. I used it after with out any problems making sure I had a firm crimp still using the mag primers I had used. I think it was 3 pounds, maybe 4 round short metal can, wish I had more.

It should also be mentioned that W571/HS-7 calls for a magnum primer.
