    WTB 1871 Mauser parts

Help! I know its a long shot.
I need an extractor, safety, & retainer for mid barrel band.
Also Does anyone know if an 1871/84 safety will work in a 1871? (numrich has them)

I don't own a '71, but do own 4 or 5 71/84s. I pretty sure that the safeties will interchange. You may be able to adapt a barrel band retainer from another vintage military rifle.

Try Hunters Lodge. At one time they Imported a Lot of M 1871/84 , they may still have parts

agree with Herr Mountain Hunter (Der Gerbirgsjager). The extractor and safety should be the same. The barrel band retainer, I dunno.

I have bands and retainers. Sold off the cleaning rod and the bolt parts I am using on a rifle. Shoot me a PM and we can chat about bands and retainers (I may have to check that the retainers are still good)

Sorry for the wait... deer season is in full swing. Are these what you are calling retainers?

Good to know information, thanks. How has your parts search been progressing? These rifles and parts are getting harder and more expensive to find, that's for sure. Like I said originally, I've never owned a 71, but do own several 71/84s. Like some other old milsurp rifles I can think about, I missed the boat on both versions. Some that were imported were in unissued condition-- just beautiful, but I was more into the WW II era rifles at the time. Missed out on some pristine 1888 rifles as well. But I did stock up on the Lee Enfields, Enfields, Springfields, Garands, Carbines, various Mausers, Carcanos, etc., etc., so have to console myself with the thought that "you can't own them all!"

Any reason not to repair the tip (weld and file to shape) and put in a modern spring?
