While it was fired by my grand uncle in the 20th Century, I have not fired it in the 21st (yet - but I still plan to!)

There are also some small pistols from the turn of the last century that take obsolete ammo and are unlikely to ever be fired for that reason, hence my opening comment with the phrase “that is shootable.” I don’t guess anybody has a box of 38 rim fire they’d like to “donate to research” do they?

Same here, Model 1860 Colt issued in about 1862.

I only buy work horse guns and I shoot them... I used to live in Houston and I have bought a gun ON THE WAY to the range several times....
With the last gun, I picked it up after a competition and drove straight back to the range to chrono some hand loads... Sadly, I live in Kommiefornia, so I have to wait to pick up guns, cannot buy more than one pistol in a month and abide with a myriad of other absolutely stupid laws.

I understand a 10 day wait if you do not already have any firearms - maybe someone gets upset and goes to buy a gun to shoot someone. BUT if you ALREADY have a gun, this no longer applies... I can rant on this for a while...

BUT to OP's question, I pick guns that I really want and sell ones I don't shoot. So, I have no guns that I haven't shot and I almost always shoot them immediately or as soon as possible just to make sure that they work... And to find out what to shoot out of them. As hand loaders, we can dial in a load for a boolit and a gun - that gives us a huge advantage over the masses with bullets.

I have a pair of three screw Ruger Blackhawks both in 41Rem magnum that I'd had for a few years still unfired.??? Maybe one day I'll get around to it who knows I have a number of long rifles still waiting in line too.

Ever find one you had forgotten you had?? I 've got two that way,and I'm not going to list all the black powder guns
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.

I am a shooter, not a collector. That said, if I owned something that had significant historical value, I would not shoot it. History, once destroyed or damaged, cannot be replaced. james

Only one that I haven't shot is 1892 French Ordinance only because of the oddball ammo.

Only one. I have a Colt da .41 “thunderer” that I inherited from my grandfather that is missing the sear and cylinder stop that I have never gotten around to finding someone to repair (since it’s a obsolete calibre and they are not supposed to be the greatest shooters anyway) it was in it’s original box when my uncles divided up the guns but one of them threw the box away before I got it. It’s kind of a cool piece of history (about 1880 manufacture) and grandpa carried it in parades with the sheriff’s mounted patrol along with a ‘94 saddle ring carbine that one of my non gun guy uncles snagged.

Too many ... likely 10 or more? Might thin the herd a bit in the near future. Most of them are vintage pieces that were bought for collection purposes anyway, but I don't display them at many of our local gun shows anymore so I should probably move some of them on to new homes.

I may have passed my "Best Before" date, but I haven't reached my "Expiry" date!

I’m too embarrassed to say how many.

But in my defense I’ve had a lot of surgeries and procedures over the past 8 years which have restricted me.

And, since I’m a gun addict I keep buying and buying and......
