Contender 41 GNR #1 Question (Mini Beast) Black Chromex

Just bought a used 10" Contender 41 GNR #1 Barrel (Mini Beast) made by Reeder. Looked new and was told it had only been fired 3 times. From the looks of it I have no problem believing it. It has the black finish. Not sure what he calls it, but it almost feels like powder coat. Anyway beautiful barrel but I am having a MAJOR problem with getting the barrel to lock up. Have tried it on two frames with no luck. When snapped closed HARD it locks sometimes and allows the hammer to fall completely to the frame. But not CONSISTENTLY But it just doesn't feel right. Been shooting Contenders since late 70's so I know how they are supposed to feel. Feels soft and NO lock. However this is my first Reeder barrel. Does anybody have experience wit this finish. Trying to form brass and get it to snap in is Impossible if you can't even get the barrel to lock consistently.

    Suggestions PLEASE???????

    Thanks in advance
    Doug

Just measured the barrel above the lug and it is .004 to .006 larger in diameter than my other barrels. Opinions??? Is this enough to cause my issues?

    Thanks in Advance

It has a split lug. And Gary is a very nice man. He told me to send it to him and he would be glad to fit it for me. Great service in my opinion since I am not the original owner. It is headed to him as we speak
    Thanks
