svarog .410 slug

Any experience casting this slug? Its a pellet (Diabolo) style slug that has the bore size of my condor... price is really accesible and shipment is cheaper than getting it from the USA (Im in Mexico, can´t believe it but shipment is cheaper from Russia) .

if so, I have to mould for 410, but was not sucessful in getting any but the very smallest of the 4 to shoot frm my smothbore 410's.. and even that small one was questionable for hunting.... needs rifling in order to stabilize as its just so long.....

This is the slug/pellet. The idea is to use it in a rifled pcp rifle

Tom Ellis at Accurate molds just added a .410 "air rifle pellet" design to his catalog. My friend Giorgio in Italy designed this to fit the Beretta garden guns. It has a solid base instead of a hollow base to avoid wads blowing into the skirt or otherwise causing base deformation, and also permits stacking a pair in a 3-inch shell for an 11/16 oz. payload. The heavier 146-grain weight should make it a harder hitter on game. I really like the wadcutter nose.

Mold hasn't arrived yet, but I will report firing test results after it does.

Your (Toms) drawing says .415 driving band and .425 @ skirt. Your saying thai is not a HB... That could be a major deferent!

The .415 front band fits Beretta choke. The .425 base is bore diameter behind choke. THE HB is not needed to fit bore. Solid base resists base deformation and prevents wad extrusion into shirt. Shuttle cock shape is form stable and resists yaw.

Understood. But its still over bore for most 410 bores.
Measuring my five they run .407-.415. Only one is a fat .415. They hover .411 avg.

I read of your warnings, which I agree with, that a ball can split a barrel. These wouldn't/ should'nt be much different.

The Savorg diablo run about .407. (Dependent upon alloy)

OK guys,,, one thing you have to consider is that these slugs don't fly like a shuttlecock. They are NOT drag Stabilized! They have to be spun to generate any repeatable accuracy.

The skirt of these slugs is completely "Blanketed" from the airflow by the nose of the slug. The airflow is directed away from the skirt of the slug by the flat nose.(think about it?) Thus if the slug is cocked in any direction other than perfectly square to the line of flight it will go in that direction unless it is spinning.

If these are to be used in an Airgun then the skirt needs to be hollow. I wonder if Pyramyd Air has any premade .41 cal. Pellets?
