This is a .257 bullet I found somewhere that I would like to try but I don’t know the mould it was cast from.
Anybody know?

That appears to be a Lyman 257388.
Here is a link to pictures of Lyman molds. http://www.three-peaks.net/bullet_molds.htm
I'm betting it is the 257418, which weighs 100 grains vs. 388's 80 grains. I've got it in single cavity, never had luck with it above about 1400 fps in the 25/06 I thought it would be good in. But I didn't own that rifle long so there are things I would try now that I didn't at the time.
It just happens I need an item for "Pay it forward". I'll put this baby on there and if you still want to try it give me a holler sukivel.

Yes! Thanks for the replies guys, indeed it weighs 96 grains so it's the 257418. I looked through my Lyman book but couldn't find it. I guess its old or discontinued.
earlmck, yeah I'll take you up on that! Thanks and I'll pm you. I'm wanting to try it in the 25-06 as well, what powders did you try with? Was it just not grouping very well?
Here is a good reference page for lyman current and out of production molds. Not complete but a good starting point to find mold numbers.

The 257418 has been a GREAT bullet in my several 25 cals , to include 250 savage ackley imp, 257 ackley, a contender 25/35 ackley and a savage 99 25/35 ackley. Much more accurate than 257312, 257420, 257464. I don't know why. According to CW, spitzers aren't supposed to shoot well, but I have had good luck with 311414, and 311413 as well. BTW the magic load in the 25's is 9gr Unique.
