Winchester Model 74 rear peep sight

I have an old, kind of well used, Win 74. 22lr.
It does not have the grooves receiver.
The Win rear peep sight, 88A, is almost impossible to find.
Anyone have a Win 74 with a different peep sight on it?????
    Pictures would be great.

I have a Lyman sight off a 74 Win. I think maybe a #55? It's a small sight with thumb lever on elevation. I think this model was a universal sight for a lot of 22s with tubular recievers of the day. I sold a H&R bolt action with same sight.

Got a picture of the sight?????
I have a collection of sights, but all are to high, or have to much off-set.

Does it mount on the left hand side of the action and what is the screw spacing if so?

    I've been looking for a Lyman 55H.
    Along with Lyman 57ES, 57MR, 42W.
Really looking to see what other have done.
No holes drilled. No grooves on the top.
Mounting on the left would be the best.
I saw a old Win 96A dovetail peep sight that looks like it might work.
    Expensive.
I was thinking of gluing a peep on the sight on there now.
Being so far away, I'm wondering if it would help or hurt.
Eyes not what they used to be.
    We'll see.

    Lyman 55

Lyman 55 on a Savage NRA Match rifle. It's a decent sight though a bit fragile as it is so tiny. I had to dismantle this one and get it all straightened out as it had been dropped at some point. It works well now.

    Nice job of mounting it.
Those sights are more than i would spend on this rifle.

That looks same as sight I have. Mine is not marked with model number only Lyman. It also is not threaded for aperature. It has a hinged small aperature that folds back to allow used of the bigger hole. Also there is almost a half radius on base. I think yours has about a 1/4 radius on the Sav rifle.

I have #19 catalog from Pacific Gun Sight Co. of San Francisco, Ca. I don't know what year it is but best sight reference I have. The Redfield sight a 102 series is $2.50 in it also.

I have a few peep sights in my collection.
I went through them, and while some look like they would mount, the peep would have to be adjusted all the way towards the mount to line up.
    I'll keep looking.
Getting hard to find these days.

If sight has to be cranked a long way towards base it was probably ment for a CF rifle that is wider across the reciever/ action.
