    Vintage box shrink wrapping

    Hi all,
I have seen everything from WOW that looks nice, to WOW that is rolled in Saran wrap when it comes to wrapping antique ammunition boxes.
What is best? I tried my vacuum packer on a new box of 300 wsm which crushed down the box a bit.
    I would enjoy everyone's thoughts!
    Thank you!

    Cheers

Not sure if this is the best way, I use 3M window shrink wrap, wrap like a Christmas present double stick tape under end flaps. Use hair dryer to shrink wrapping.

I've found that plain zip lock freezer bags work as well as the vacuum things.
Just push out as much air as you can, and put a small desiccant envelope in it that comes with electronic stuff.

I've had ammo in them for about 10 years and it just barely has a noticeable amount of tarnish on the brass.

Having had businesses that used shrink wrap, specifically heat shrink I can not recommend it for storing stuff you want to keep intact. It will continue to shrink in the presence of UV light from fluorescent lamps. It also discolors (yellowing) over time.
Then there is the continued out gassing over time.

^^^ this, I've got .22 boxes that I did up 15-20 years ago and they still look new. Keep them out of direct sunlight! Even in plastic they fade.
