    Best bullet design for PC

I recently acquired some Smoke's jet black PC in a trade and want to give it a try. Brand new to the PC thing, been doing it the "old way" for 40 years. I have both traditional lube-groove molds (both Keith and Thompson designs) and Lee molds designed for the tumble lube method (which I've used pretty extensively in .45 ACP). Which would you choose to experiment and !earn the PC technique? What about gascheck bullets? Redundant waste of time with PC? Thanks for your suggestions.

You may notice gas checks are harder to seat, as PC can increase the diameter of the shank. Some please seat them before powder coating, but I don't.

I think tumble lube groves are ideal, but you want a square base, some of the lee's are bevel base and in my experience the powder coat gets somewhat uneven on that bevel and since its recessed the sizer wont smooth it and accuracy suffers. gas checks and PC seem to go great together you just wanna make sure they still fit with the added size, I order .001 smaller shank when I plan on PC. and when I shoot regular lube groves with PC the grove fully obturates out into a smooth bearing surface so im not a big fan. I want bullets to come out looking the same

Seat the GC first then PC.

Bottom line is it dosent really seem to matter much...

I have dozens upon dozens of molds and PC coat 98% of what I cast now.

I agree with above about GC sometimes more difficult. I still seat afterwards as I have learned what powders coat thinner and how to get the thin even coat. (Or thick heavy if warranted)

If you desire some makers offer smooth sided molds for pc use.

    no special style needed,by me.
Never had a problem seating gas checks after

I only use gas check on rifle bullets. I double coat rifle bullets, leaving the check base uncoated on the first coat, installing the check then then a second PC on the complete bullet, which bonds the check like it is part of the bullet. I PC all my handgun bullets. All my handgun bullets coat and shoot very well, but my favorite bullet for the 45 ACP is the old H&G #68.
