    TC 45-70 scope

I have a Thompson Center G2 45-70 14" barrel. I want to put a good LER scope. "I know Leupold is the best. But right now I am trying to get a "good" scope that will take it. (for under $500.00) Right now it shooting a 350 lead H-4198 33.0 gr. at about 15,000 psi. What would be a good pistol scope for it??????Thanks

    .

My .45-70 T/C Contender Hunter Super 14 package came with a T/C illuminated reticle scope which has never let me down.

If I was fitting out an unscoped .45-70 Contender today, I'd opt for a Burris pistol scope (they take a licking & keep on ticking )

Hi. I have the same thing...TC G2 with 14" .45-70 barrel. I opted for a 2 MOA Red Dot instead of a scope. I have two other Contender barrels (.30 Herrett and .45 Colt), as well as a Magnum Research BFR .45-70 - 7.5" bbl all of which are scoped. I know you said you wanted a scope, but unless you plan on shooting beyond 200 yards, a Red Dot might fit your needs nicely. Regards, Ed

I have a Leupold 2x scope on my VVA barrel 45-70 that came with it. Next year I plan on putting a Burris 2-7 on it. That's what my other pistol barrels wear. I have no doubt it will hold up and shoot well.

Put a red dot on it. I've used them on a 45-70 1886 and it would shoot groups right around an inch and a half (five shots) at a measured 114 yards. I could easily hit deer with it out to a hundred and fifty....probably a bit further. No handicap with the red dot.
