Everybody on this thread needs to read this. http://castboolits.gunloads.com/show...lin-1894-rifle
Chamfering the Chamber Mouth will fix this rifle. No chamber mouth should have a sharp edge as it just scrapes metal off the bullets.
This is simple "Finish Work" that should be being done at all gun makers factories.
We have been trying to get Marlin, now "Remlin," to grind their chambering reamers with a .050 radius at the back end (works better than a chamfer) For years and it looks like we may have gotten them to at least Chamfer the chamber mouth after cutting it in their Lever action rifles now.
I watched an S&W Performance Shop Smith on TV chamfering the chamber mouths on one of Jerry Miculek's Revolvers so he could load it faster. Big Light Bulb clicked on!
He was doing it with a Countersink turning in a drill press and holding the cylinder in his hand and just bumping each chamber on the turning Csk. Nothing to it, took 2 minutes to do, and this method is common practice for machinists .
Hope this helps some of you, and wouldn't you love to use boolits like this in your bolt gun?
Well,,, chamfer the chamber mouth and you can. RCBS 45-270 270 gr. Definitely big enough to leave a mark!
