Bion, I have rung the Sierra bulletsmiths who provide great info -- yes, including for cast bullets. Me? I cast and shoot a 220gn bullet in my .44 S&W Special, but it is not a hollow point. Here's my load:Click image for larger version.

ID:	250169 which is moderate in my S&W 696-1 revolver. Hope this helps.

I would use the data for the 429215 which while listed at 215 gr always ran heavier, IME.

You might want to work up a load for the 44mag starting with a mild load of 5gr.Red Dot.
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.

7.5 to 8.5 grains of Unique . Should work as well with the 220 as it does with my Keith 429421HP and the same bullet in a solid . Might try 15.5 grains of 2400 , thats Taffin's load for the 220 gr Thompson bullet .

In a 44 Mag with Mag cases .....

    From Hodgdon’s #26: HS6 start 10.0 gr , Max 12.0 gr , 250 gr. lead boolit psi 24,000

Newer manuals run HS6 into the mid 30k range so that 12 gr Max is not really a true max load, however I load just a wee bit off the 12 gr. listed in #26 and run my RCBS 250k cast slug at 11.8 gr.with (in my case) a Federal 155 Mag primer.

This IMO is a super good load. Easy on the paws, as a spherical powder HS6 goes through a powder measure like you know what through a tin horn and the SD and accuracy are to die for. Velocity puts it more powerful than the Skelton loads with 8.5 gr of Unique as it runs 1066 FPS out of my 4” MG (7 FPS SD) but south of 2400 performance and less recoil.

I see no reason one can’t adapt that data to run a 220 gr slug since I have run it down to 200 commercial cast myself.

    Enjoy
