I just bought a Green Mountain 58cal barrel for my Renegade. I went looking for a mold and the sizes are all offer the place. I just expected a .570 size. What size mold do I need to buy?

Ball or minie or slug?
Green mountain used to have quite deep rifling in their ball barrels that would leave you room to manouver
58's are all over the place
son has a italian enfield that takes 570 ball with a real thin patch
i have a zoli mississippi rifle that takes 562 ball and a thick patch - would take maybe a 565 but we cant load the 570 with any patch in that barrel
am told the parker hale branded repros are different again.
ooooops ! didnt read the heading.
Call em would be the easiest -
Lee makes a .562 and a .575
562 with a fat patch might work
575 with a skinny patch might work but could be pushing it a bit.
10 thou under calibre size is an easy load in most round ball barrels
5 thou under for a tight load OR after a few hundred rounds ....................
I just broke down an ordered the Lyman .570 I have always had good luck with .010 undersized.
I don't get enough days at the range. I don't want to ruin a day with a ball that won't shoot in my gun.....
I shoot a .562 out of a lee mold and pillow ticking from hobby lobby, 80 grains of goex 2f. I shoot this combo out of a t/c big boar. They shoot really good.
I went to a .562 Lee ball as well. I have a Sharon Barreled Hawken that is almost impossible to get loaded with a .570 ball and the thinnest patch I could find. I had to make a follow up shot on a deer a couple years ago and that convinced me to look at a smaller ball. As far as accuracy I can't tell any difference, but all it needs to shoot is minute of deer.

Hello All,
I shot the .562 Lyman in my CVA Big Bore Mountain Rifle.
Not sure why I purchased that mold so I looked up load data in the CVA book,
CVA recommended the .562 in the Big Bore Mountain Rifle (that answers that).

I can't remember what diameter my Hornady .58 balls are. I think .570, it shoots good with pillow ticking patch and 80-90 gr. 2f.
