    Wink Day off!!!

Well, here we are celebrating Yom Kippur. The school district I teach in gives the day off due to the large Jewish population. However, being an old Cat'lic boy, what am I to do? Guess I'll head to the range!!

I'm packing my two deer guns, my old Interarms Mk X carbine and an even older Remington 760, both in .30-06. Just checking the scopes, make sure nothing got bumped since last year. I'm also going to throw in the Ruger American Rimfire. That gun astounds me at 100 yards. I NEVER shot a .22 LR at that distance until I tried it on a whim earlier this summer. Since I will be checking the other two at 100...

Then off to the shotgun side! My club shoots 5 stand on Wednesday afternoons. It feels like a yellow boolit kind of day, so I've got two 20 gauges packed. My Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon and my trusty old 870 Wingmaster are coming out today.

Just in case, I threw the Smith 27 in the car too. Might swing by the pistol range if time permits.

Sounds like a good day, and I'm glad your school district still does that.

There are those in the political spectrum who would complain about giving a religious holiday (insert any religion here!) off. Of course the secular holiday of their choice is inviolable! I’m OK with giving everyone the opportunity to preserve their most deeply held traditions, and for a Christian on Yom Kippur, observing the beauty of the Second Amendment seems quite appropriate to me. I think we should use the power of the latter to insure the sanctity of the former. Freedom of religion is guaranteed right along with our other rights, in fact it is included in the very first of the Bill of Rights, isn’t it?

And to my friends of the Jewish Faith, I wish you a blessed and peaceful Yom Kippur.

A bad day at the range is better than a good day at work.

Retirement - when EVERY day is a Friday (except Saturday and Sunday).
If it was easy, anybody could do it.

I think you got that somewhat wrong. To me it is six Saturdays and a Sunday.
