    Berry's bullets

    Anyone have any of these???
    Berry's 7.62x39mm .311 Diameter TMJ 123 Grain Spire Point
I've not had good luck with Berry's bullets diameter.
Had some .308 bullets from them that were .305di.
    Shot like rubbish.
If anyone has some, Can you measure the diameter for me.
They have to be .311di for my use.

I've bought 500 of those a while ago. Just measured a handful and all of those were .311. Tried a few loads of 4198 (lead data on low end to keep them under 2000 fps per Berry's recomendation), was promising but then put the project on backburner.

No issues with berry's here either. I use there .224 jacketed all the time in my Venture. Give them a call and ask they may send you some replacements.

Well, Bud Bond shot them & he was a six gun wizard before his untimely death several years ago. Berry Bullets sponsored him. Very, very few revolver shooters could beat him.

I have shot my share of plated bullets.

IMHO they are very good PLINKERS. They will not hold acceptable accuracy for me past 20-25 yards. My own cast easily best them and most quality jacketed beat my cast.

I pretty much gave up on them since picking up powder coating couple years ago. I syil have a few 500 rnd boxes. Id of unloaded them but they are 40 and not many round here want them.

You may have gotten a bad batch, it happens. I've shot many types of Berrys plated and all were as advertised. Contact Berrys on this I think

Many years ago I shot them in USPSA/IDPA but quit after many mystery malfunctions. (on the clock you don't get to stop and figure out what went wrong) I eventually found the occasional undersized bullet (even with their "double struck" bullets) would hit the feed ramp and push into the case and absorb just enough energy to stop the slide movement. (maybe for the better)

Also the prices got to where they were closer to jacketed bullets than bulk cast bullets and not worth bothering with.

I like Berry's bullets, but as I have become a proficient caster and coater, I mostly can't justify buying them any more. The one exception is the 148 grain plated DEWC in .358. Holy cow, those things are just so accurate I still load them even though I cast wadcutters by the bucket.

That reminds me, gotta lay in a bulk load of those as part of my pre-election stockpile.
