    Lightbulb Hollow point question

I have been toying with the idea of filling the hollow cavity with RTV or Shoe Goo. Shoe Goo is a type of RTV that sets up a little firmer than regular RTV. I am thinkin that this might expedite expansion, similar to Lever Revolution bullets. Has anyone tried this or anything similar? Keep yer powder dry...……...robin

I would think it depends on the bullet that you are modifying. Hard or soft cast or jacketed? A disposable 5 gallon bucket full of wet newspaper will tell you if it works.

    Hollow point question

I modified the nose on a couple of Hornady lead .357 hollow-points to accommodate a .177 copper-plated BB, but have not loaded it yet. I still need to hot-glue it in place.
Would hot glue work for your purposes? Only one way to find out.

I would think adding anything to the bullets would Change the weight and center of gravity, which could cause a lot changes in the POI.
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.

for big HP 45 cal bullets I use airsoft bb's. They expand rapidly and nasty results
Airsoft bb's weight next to nothing and being rd don't effect rotational forces.. IE my group sizes don't change

At a gun show long ago a vendor had "explosive self defense ammo" for sale. .45 ACP hollow points with LIVE small rifle primers in the cavities. I did not endear myself to him by stating " That is stupid and a waste of primers".

I have heard of the explosive boolet idea and that doesn't appeal to me. After watching the video, I think melted bee's wax or paraffin might work better than RTV. Thanks to all that replied...……..robin

I tried it with airsoft BBs and didn’t notice a difference. My alloy was really hard though. I switched to 7.5BH alloy so they will be sure to open up without any filling of the HP area.

At a gun show long ago I was young and dumb enough to buy a box of those ! If I remember right they were sealed with yellow paint on the nose . I remember the brass also they were stamped "hi-vel" never did shoot one and may even still have them .
