    More single action grips

I just finished these up. They are Claro Walnut. I left them thick at the top and beveled the edges to meet the cylinder frame.

Beautiful work & excellent (and practical) idea beveling to the frame. This leaves enough wood for a good grip, yet does not distract from the appearance.

It is worth noting from my own experience in making a pair of grips for my Virginian dragoon, it is worthwhile to set up a palm swell to allow the hand side grip to better fill the hand. I did my swell very much by accident, accidentally leaving that grip panel excessively thick, but it turned out to be a wonderfully shooting revolver because of it.

I find a thicker grip profile in the rear feels really good. I prefer thicker at the top as well. Ruger’s factory New Vaquero grips are way to thin in my opinion. Uberti goes for a flush fit to the grip frame/cylinder frame under the ears, but stay really thick behind them and all the way down. You an feel the jump at the transition. Colt also has thick grips. Around .45 at the bottom.

Of course. This highlights the value of making one's own grips.... You can make them in whatever way fit's your hand the best
