    Too long?

I was doing the shake and bake method but have started putting my container in my tumbler and by the time I get everything set up and ready they have been in for 20 minutes or so. Usually they look really good with a nice good coating. I then set the next batch in to tumble as the other batch cooks and so on.
Today I had to take off as the one batch coated and the other cooked. 2 1/2 to 3 hours later the powder that I was coating with has changed color and when cooked was rough and much darker than normal. Back in the pot they go.
    Anyone else had this happen?

The longer they are in the tumbler the darker they will get ----- lead.

5 - 10 min should be more than enough.

I shake for less than 1m. I can't imagine any benefit from running them in a tumbler for much more than 5m.

Basically you have lead dust in the powder. Most tumblers are too aggressive to begin with and the reason I modified mine so I can adjust the level of vibration.

i put mine in a #5 container , then in the tumbler (careful to make sure the twist of the container is opposite of the direction it tumbles). tumble for 3-5 min (after doing it initially for 20 -same issues as OP). seems to be better and more consistent.

They were in a #5 container setting in my media so it softened the impact.
