I have read this thread with extreme interest. Mine is a CG 1904, and I have an 8 lb jug of surplus 852 albeit the slower burning lot. I just wish to enjoy shooting her and perhaps make meat one day.
I had the stock refinished by my "Wood Whisperer", and she is stunning! Tiger striping goes the entire length of stock.

She is indeed a stunner! I was able to detect some figure underneath the grime, but was astonished when I saw the results of his efforts.
