    Chronograph results 38 Spl +P 158 gr Speer LSWC S&W 442

Finally got out this morning and chronographed 10 rds 38 Spl +P using 5.6 grs Power Pistol, Speer 158 gr LSWC and CCI-500 primers from my S&W 642 1 7/8 inch. The 5.6 grs load averaged this time 825 FPS.

The 5.6 grs Power Pistol 38 Spl +P 158 gr LSWC loading is a favorite of mine. I used up to 6.0 grs in the past but this load was getting a bit uncomfortable in the Airweight. 5.6 grs is a good compromise and within Speer load data.

Recoil in my S&W 642 was comparable to Remington’s FBI load. Didn’t notice muzzle flash since shooting outside.

That is great velocity for a barrel that short. Since it is one of your favorites, I assume it groups well.
Were there any negative issues or is all good?

Usually Power Pistol is very flashy. Personally I don't mind the flash, my USPSA guns normally have huge plumes of fire out the front.

Didn’t notice flash in the Nevada sun. Power Pistol does have a nice bark and rap to it but so does Remington’s 38S12 FBI load. The 5.6 gr loading provides good accuracy in my snub nose. I even smack soda cans with it at 25 yds!
