    Savage 99 in 300 savage

    Would like to use 2400 powder

    Bullets I have;

    311291 Lyman 170 gr
    312-160 lee 160 gr
    Lyman 120gr 30 carbine bullet
    Now 311165 30-30 bullet

    They are a fine rifle and the .300 Savage will get the job done for most of us.

    Not sure of the edition but it’s a Lyman bought new in the early 1970s. The covers are long gone. It’s data and bullets differ from the Lyman Cast Handbook in several instances so I consult both.

    It appears to be Lyman 45th.

    It looks like my 1967 44th edition Lyman reloading manual, the first manual where every load was pressure tested in a ballistics lab.

    Fired the rifle today at 50 yards with NOE 165 grain bullet made for 300 savage. 17 grains of 2400.
