    BR-5 for shotshells?

Can't remember if I asked here before today, but has anyone used BR-5 in place of Unique in shotshells? I have some 357 Mag. and 45 ACP Unique "replacement" loads using BR-5 and it works good, just wondering it anyone tried any in shotshell loads?

My "activity" info only goes back one month, checked before I opened a new thread...

FYI: Your "view forum posts" info went back 2479 posts when I just checked.
Just because change doesn't make a difference doesn't mean that change is bad.

I think it is an account configuration issue, I can't see my older posts either, but I've looked at other members posts much further back than my own posts. I've just never dug into to see why.

Hmm. Thanks for the site info, but has anybody used BR-5 in shotshells?

Not to seem snarky, but I know what I found. I tried a couple things and I only got back as far as one month. It's really no big deal to me either way as I would rather read other's responses than mine...

Must be brain freeze, BR-5 doesn't even sound remotely familiar as a gun powder, saw some Alcan 7 and 8 for sale yesterday, talk about dredging up vintage powder!
Was gifted a pound of REX-1 on Tuesday, not quite as old but just as weird.

Who made BR-5? Enquiring minds want to know.

It'll all go bang if you can find a recipe.

BR-5 is a "surplus", new not pulldown, sold by Bartlett. Ball powder originally intended for 9x19. Everything I've read is it uses data very similar to Unique...

Thnx. The Unique/Universal "range" works quite well in several of my guns and adding another similar powder is just following that theme. During one of the first panics, I couldn't get any Unique so I bought some Universal. I have since "replaced" most of my Unique loads with Universal, and read about BR-5 and added 6 lbs. to my stash. So far in 4 of my handgun loads it is proving to be a very good fit. I started reloading shotshells lately and saw Unique and Universal loads in my manuals and thought about BR-5 in shotshells, and where would be a better place to ask than Castboolits powder sub forum?
