My 58 caliber has a .578 bore. Will this mold cast right at.575 which would be too small or will it cast a thou or two larger?

    Thanks

Hollow base is designed to bump up. You could probably paper patch depending on your application.

They usually cast close to stated size. Have had oversized molds in the past. Best bet is to buy a .580 mold from MooseMolds , S&S etc and size down to .578 as needed. Also you can find all your musket answers over at N-SSA.org . Any questions shoot me a PM

I used the above bullet in a Parker hale 3 band Enfield and it always shot well. No sizing required.

It will expand, that's the reason for the hollow base. T/C Bore butter for lube, 3F for powder, anything from 33 grains and up do ok out at 50 yards. Slower twist may need more powder. And Crisco in the hollow base.

Yours could be the exception but I would expect it to perform at least pretty well.

For N-SSA shooting we aim for 1-2 thousandths under bore size for best accuracy.
