My first casting with brass molds

I finally got around to casting with my new MP 452 and 434 brass molds. It took me quite a while to get the rhythm and temperature dialed in. MUCH different casting experience compared to steel and aluminum molds. Had to run the pot at 745 for the 452's and 725 for the 434's. 20 degrees hotter than I do for my RCBS molds. My hands were wet and dirty, the boolits are actually nice and clean.

Yep the brass molds like it hot; but once they find the sweet temp that they like Nothing makes better boolits in my humble opinion

Congrats on a couple of nice moulds.
Yep I have a brass mould from Accurate. It makes perfect boolits but boy is it heavy!
My first session went ok with it. Like you I had to tinker with temperatures and rhythm that first time. But after that, man o man it casts sweet! But it’s still heavy!

Looks like you’ve got some testing ahead to see how the hollow points work.

Preheating is essential. Casting for the 45/70 and a 4 banger brass mold will test your wrist endurance and strength for sure!

I do not run htoter pot temp with brass HP molds.But i do cast them much faster to keep the heat in the pins.I do not yet have a sold brass mold yet.but yep they are a bit different.I had better luck with casting faster then hotter lead.As said above once you hit the sweet spot it rains realy nice bullets.But the heavy bras mold and the fast speed wears me out quick.

I drank the cool aid and got a brass mould some years ago. It casts well but the darn'd thing is heavy enough to be a sledge hammer. I now buy aluminum molds from the same maker and am much better satisfied.

I am no super man but come on, they are not that heavy. I mean can you dig a post hole or split some wood without dying. If you can , you will not have a problem with a brass mould. I can not tell any fatigue difference with my 4 cavity Lyman or brass moulds.
