Years ago (maybe 15 or so) I purchased two moulds from Paul Fitz Jones, who as I understand it had the Star Reloading Press Distributorship either nationally or just the West Coast. He was also the manufacturer/distributor of the Fitz grips.
He claimed to be suffering from cancer and was selling everything. He said he had a relationship with the original SAECO company in Carpenteria CA and they had made a special run of moulds for him and he was selling them all.
I purchased two new in the original red and white box 4 cavity SAECOs from him. One was a 4 cavity 68bb. I never used it, and it even has the original plastic wrapping around the mould. Whan I was giving it the annual checkup, reoiling and rewrapping, I noticed the other day that the mould body is marked 101, and the sprue plate is marked 68.
There is no doubt the bullet is really a 68bb.
The box is marked 298068bb.
Any idea why this might be?
I cannot find any info on SAECO #101 moulds that might explain it..
I am very confused.
Any thoughts?
