30-30 loads for HI-TEK SUPERCOAT RNFP 165gr bullets - er, I need some!

    Howdy,

Anyone have loads that have worked well for you with these bullets in .30-30? I am interested in anything from light plinkers to fast as you can go without leading loads. I am interested in any loads with newer or older powders... I have on hand a number of older powders I'd like to use including IMR 3031, 4350, 4064, 4198, H355? I think (from memory) -- Also have Unique of course. I have a bunch of these Hi-Tek bullets (500 from Chey-Cast bullets) but cannot find much in the way of load data for these Hi-Teks. Using them a little bit in an old Model 94 pre-64 and mostly in a brand- new- yet- to- have- in- my- hands Mossberg Trapper with the 16.25" barrel that's on the way from Bud's.

Appreciate your thoughts! John in IdahoClick image for larger version.

If alloy is good and GCd, just use jacketed loads. LeverE works good in mine,335, 4895 too.
    Whatever!

26 grs aa2520 should work well in your 30/30. Its nothing more then a ball clone
of 4895. Start at 26 grs and wok up till you get what you like.

I have had good luck with 8.9 grains of Green Dot at 100 yards with a Marlin 4x32 power scope on my Marlin (Glenfield 30A). I have had this lever for about 40 years and never really shot it much. Got it from a friend who shot maybe 3 rounds out of it and sold it to me. His wife didn't want a gun in the house, well lucky me to be there to help him out. I was using Missouri #1 Whitetail 165 grain boolits that I powder coated.

Those look to be plain base so unique (7-8) or 2400 (12). Reduced H4895 (18-20). would work also.
    Whatever!
