Has anyone had thier barrel throated for PC bullet

I'm having a gun rebarrelled and thinking about having it throated for PC bullet. I would have to buy a throating reamer. This is going to be a cast Boolits only gun.

I am not sure what you are looking to do. I purchased a hand operated $80 Manson reamer to lengthen the chamber/throat and taper the leade on 9mm chambers. I have used it with success on several CZ Shadow pistols to accept longer profile 147gr and 165gr coated bullets. Works like a champ!

I have no experience with rifles.

DougGuy a mmember here did my Canik TP9 SFX and when it was done I was able chamber my fat PCed Lee 356-125-2R sized to .3575.
Shoots much better now I use it almost every weekend. If you are looking just to get one or two guns done I wouldnt bother to buy reamers , pilots etc I would just have Doug do it. He does this a lot has good reamers and can also put a crown cut on your muzzle and he'll do it all of that for a very fair price. Watch how many people are going to post behind me because I know many here had Doug fix up their guns.

    All hail DougGuy!

He reamed my SFX too. No more leading problem. Chambers fat boolits.

Fellas be very careful with spending money on a HSS reamer, some of the Canik barrels are case hardened and you will RUIN it in the first 1/4 turn, it will not even so much as scratch the rifling. Ask me how I know this.. Brand new Manson reamer shot gone kaput useless. $140 + shipping lost.

Far as I know, the TP9 are not hardened, the Shadow2 is case hardened and is VERY hard. Glock, Poly framed Springfield, M&P, and a whole bunch of others are salt bath hardened and can only be cut with carbide tooling. These have to be made to order, averaging 3x the cost of HSS tooling and the wait is several months. Most AR barrels are too hard to cut with HSS reamers.

Got a .22 .30 .32 .357 .38 .40 .41 .44 .45 .480 or .500 S&W cylinder that needs throats honed? 9mm, 10mm/40S&W, 45 ACP pistol barrel that won't "plunk" your handloads? 480 Ruger or 475 Linebaugh cylinder that needs the "step" reamed to 6° 30min chamfer? Doug I've got a 1953 Marlin 336 SC in 35 Remington. Would be interested in having it throated for PC cast boolets. Have RCBS 35-200 and a Saeco clone to work with. Will still be good for jacketed bullets after? Thanks. Pm me or answer here on forum..don't care which.

That's exactly what I would like to have done also. Then I wouldn't have to seat that boolit so deep. The gas check is past the shoulder on mine. It shoots fine like that though.

Hi Doug and sorry guys to hijack the thread. Are throats on the shadow 2 short or what ? In your experience is there any reason you can think that running cast bullets would be difficult ?
