    Been awhile....

Haven't posted in awhile. 2 toddlers and a new job keeps me busy. But with hunting season coming around I decided to get the AR-15 in 7.62x39 ready with some cast boolits.

    Lee C309-160-R. Hi-tek coated 2 coats and gas checked. 15 BHN. 18.2 Gr. IMR-4227 C.O.A.L. 2.15.

    Guessing mv: at 1700-1800 fps
    I'll crono tomorrow.

Pic is of same bullet in a 308. Then the 7.62x39 then by itself. Used the 308 on deer a couple years ago with great performance at 2200 fps.

Well it chrony'ed at 1684 5 shot average. .75" group at 100 yards.

Went back to quickload and decided to go up to 23 grains.
Back out to the range and 2134fps 5 shot average. Group opened up to 1.2" groups at 100 yards. Think I'll keep this load for hunting these ks whitetails.
Most importantly no leading out of 50 rounds. The last 10 shots gun was hot and shot them fast.

One or two MOA is most certainly good hunting accuracy. Come to that, is wasn't all that long ago that a rifle capable of MOA accuracy was a prize.

Sounds like you have a good load there.
