    Cellular activated hog trap

We have them pretty bad this year and our normal hunting, driving them off for a couple weeks and keeping them in the woods isn’t working. The 4x4x8 ft traps don’t cut it anymore either.

I decided on a double gate corral trap that I could put on their trail, connecting the two gates with cattle panels on both sides to form a large round trap.

I have game radios that let me know when they are there and modified one so it stays keyed up on channel #2 so I can hear how many are in close proximity, then trigger the gates with a cell phone call.

    Ready to set up tomorrow.

I saw some on youtube where the game cam will take a photo and send to a cell, then the cell calls the trigger and drops the gates to capture the entire sounder.

I looked at the Boar Buster ($7000-$8000) and was leaning that way until I came across the Jager Pro ($5500) and liked the larger area.

Mine is not as nice as either of them but I used what I had at the house for the most part and for $20 out of pocket I am willing to give it a try.

I did buy a $120 Spypoint cellular game camera, we’ll see if it works tomorrow.

I'd love to help you with your problem. I love bacon ham and Italian sausage. But my knees really limit my mobility right now. I eat too much of the above and they won't operate on me till I stop for a year or two.

    That's way cool.

Can't wait to hear how well it works.

Set the gates up and tested them Sat and 8 stopped by Sun morning, the rest continued on to another feeder down the trail.

Put up the feeder and cellular camera that afternoon. Should be good to go this weekend. Hopefully the rest become complacent with it by then. It wound up being 112 feet in circumference.

Update: a couple different ones are there this morning.

Humm that's sure is a good ideal.I just go out a shoot a few, that's what a 41 Rem Mag was made for. like you said they will disappear for a while when hunted. Lots of Texas landowners have a problem with hogs but they won't let anybody on the land to hunt them. We kill a few each year on the lease. Then I guess they go to the next door neighbors until he runs them back to us.

Got to keep those controls where they can't get to them, seen many game cameras and lights torn to shreds. Forget your feeder if it falls over. Guess you could place bait in that trap and use 22lr so they don't spoil the ground.
    Whatever!

Are you letting the herd grow, or slaughtering each night and more are coming?
