Trail Boss in 30-06 cast rifle loads

Has anyone tried this? my supply of 4759 is almost gone and I was wondering about using this bulky powder in a 30-06 with 190 gr. cast plain base that shoot great with that and small charges of Unique.

I have tried TB behind a MP Hollow Point.
Yes its quiet and no recoil but they did not feed in my Mauser so stopped there.

I have burned a few pound in my various 30-06's. Ironically enough, I have had better accuracy than Red Dot and Unique with similar charges.

My experience with TB has been the opposite . My normal plinker loads were 6 gr of Bullseye and 12grs of Unique accuracy wise they bothshoot about the same out to 100 yds ,I could never get TB to equal the accuracy i can shoot a lot of bullets with a pound of Bullseye compared to a pound of TB .
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!

I've used Trail Boss in the 30-06, my results were just so-so. It works OK, but Red Dot and 2400 worked even better (for me anyway) for 100 yard practice loads. 5744 and RL7 are two solid performers in the 30-06 if your looking for a replacement for 4759. Both are fairly bulky and work very well in CB loads.

Call me lazy, but I found that 12 grains of Unique shot really well with a lee soup can and stopped looking for anything better.

I use green dot in a old 30/06 mauser sporter and with the 180 sil boolet it shoots awesome. I think they list it in a old lyman manual as a accuracy load. I think you can shoot more for less with green dot...…………..curdog

Thank you, gentlemen. I sure wish some company would bring back 4759 though!
