Seems lots of mines just free slides now.

The sides of the slides can also be slightly peened, to create enough friction to keep the slide from moving freely.

Just curiose,have you looked to see if there is any build up of debris in the detents?many years ago a friend had the same problem,and cleaning the detents fixed it.
