Does Rem 700 ejector retainer pin need to be interference fit?

I have a PTG bolt body and lost the pin. The hole is 0.080".

I have lots of old Rem bolts, and their pins are 0.075". I put one in, and the pin looks trapped by the rails when the ejector plunger is pushed in.... otherwise the pin would be wedged by the ejector ...but I worry.

    I never like that design.
A buddy had a extractor fall out of his Sendero on a hunting trip.

After that, we both sent our 700 bolts out for a Sako style extractor to be put in.

PTG should give you a new pin if you call them. I’ve heard of Remington 700 extractor and ejector problems but never witnessed them. Mine ( 700, 600,XP100, 721, and 788 just extracted and ejected like there was no tomorrow.

I make a tapered pin that wedges in tight. Just in case.

You could stake both ends with a center punch to slightly close the hole, that should keep the pin in.

Hold one end with needle nose, lay the other end on vise and give it some hammer love, interference fit I believe they call it.

Gtex gave you what I do with a loose fit pin does not take much to keep it in place.
