FP and IMR 4198 I got a new mold last year and just now started playing around with it. it is a 200gr. lyman hp I found on ebay. at 50yds and off the bench it cut a small triangle 3 shot group. today I shot at 100yds and got this. the load is 34gr. of #3031 with a fed. 210 in hor. cases. deer season opened today here in SC, and goes to jan1 they best look out,,,,,,,,,,,,,Click image for larger version.

a correction, it is actually an old "ideal mold" 358315 you may find a redneck woman or two hunting in camo bikinis but you can be sure they have a redneck husband ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I am 62 in sept. I have been hunting that way all my life. I can't imagine a 2 week season! or split up, bow season, muzzleloader, rifle, ect. up until 2017 we never had deer tags or really a limit! even with the stupid cut back on the amount of deer you can kill, last year I killed 9, I usually kill 5 or 6 but last year I took out some does. one morning last year I killed 3 within 45 minutes, a 8 point, a 6 point, and a doe. seems the more we kill the more we have,,,,,,,,,,,,

We here have generous bag limits but shorter while still a lengthy season.

We start September 15th. Archery. Rifle starts 3rd Wed of Nov then ends in mid Dec when muzzle loader starts last is archery again after new year till end of month. Feb 15 wraps all reg season up with close of rabbit n squirrel.

Some zones have unlimited tags. But reg seasons its close to 10 deer one could get with all tags. Not counting special hunts or open areas.

Good shooting load especially with that bullet , I could never get my 315 bullets to shoot well at higher speeds due to the nose being undersized by design . My mould cast them .360 onthe bands and .346 on the nose .

    Great shooting and cool rifle.
You can miss fast & you can miss a lot, but only hits count.

I have tried the 358315 mold boolits in 2 or 3 different rifles with no great success. The RCBS 200 gr. is the best cast boolit I have found in my Whelen and in the 35 Rem.

In my Model 8 I use the same bullet that I use in my 38/357. 158 gr cast bullet, 22 grs IMR 4227. Works well. But I don't hunt with it.
