    The person who posted the item to Wikipedia apparently is not a wildcatter. He used "parent case" to mean the inspiration for the new case, as in "scaled up."

    Well. a 50BMG is pretty much a scaled up 30-06. I can see what the man was trying to say but a lot was lost in the translation. LOL Gp
